Belladonna "Donna" vom Berg-Meister
Belladonna joined us on March 26th of 2013 as a new puppy from our "B" litter. Originally my plan was just to call her Bella, however the kids insisted on Donna...they won out. Donna has been a very fun dog watch grow up and develop from a fun loving and happy puppy, to a very sweet, but very serious hunting machine! Her skill set is quite broad, from pounding water and crashing the reeds looking for ducks, to tracking like a fool to retrieve any wounded game. She is persistent while on track, and I have seen her make a 400 yard retrieve on a diving teal. She covers ground thoroughly in the upland field as well. Her range is typically between 100-150 yards, but she will occasionally go out to 300 yards or so investigating scent on the wind. She has incredible prey drive, and while this is a very good trait, it overwhelms her sometimes, and she will bump a bird or two on occasion. She will hunt all day long and is truly a pleasure to hunt behind. She is also an absolute sweetheart to have in our kennel. She loves the kids, and is always pleasant to have around other dogs.
I also feel she brings the best of two of the old school Wild West Chapter stud dogs to the table. Her grandfather on her mothers side is Rex II vom Böckenhagen and her father is Nic II vom Böckenhagen who both have since passed. Both of these stud dogs have sired some incredible dogs, and have passed on traits that are very desirable.
Donna and her other 2 litter mates have performed admirably in their testing, and from the reports from their owners, are awesome dogs to hunt with. I have hunted many times with her brother Burell "ZZ", and I can attest that he is another incredible hunting machine. I think she has some amazing traits that will benefit the Drahthaar breed.
Pedigree. Test Scores.
