I take the Drahthaar breeding system very seriously. I feel that if a dog has nothing special to offer to the breed, they should not be having litters of pups. My goal is to try to expand upon qualities that truly are exceptional by pairing up my female(s) with a male that will amplify those qualities, as well as add the great qualities I see in him, to produce puppies that will excel in all they do. I believe test scores play a role in this decision process, however I do not feel they are the only deciding factors in choosing a breeding. I think getting to know the stud dog is also key, as they can throw nice test scores, but not be so stellar in the field. I also feel that by getting to know the stud dog, I get a feel for his personality, for I want my puppies to be pleasant to be around as well as being phenomenal hunters. I do not, nor never will I choose a stud dog that is sharp towards humans. In my opinion this is truly unacceptable.
